Our Tots Creative Dance aged 3-6yrs offers a foundation in dance that develops coordination, musicality, confidence and is great fun too. The class teaches foundations in ballet and tap, incorporating ‘flavours’ of Indian dance such as Bharatanatyam hand gestures and expressions. Children will also learn some fun Bollywood steps and routines. This foundation class not only prepares our students for our Bollywood Dance Theatre courses and Bharatanatyam Dance from 7yrs but also the RAD Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Breakdance and Street Dance classes run through our sister school, Spotlight School of Dance, Hemel Hempstead, where Gopi is a resident teacher.
6-12yrs Bollywood Dance
We offer Bollywood Dance courses for children aged 6-12yrs. Children receive all round training in Bollywood dance and work towards Medal Test Examinations and shows and performances. The fun, energetic Bollywood routines feature many styles of dance such as Bhangra, Bharatanatyam, Khatak, Contemporary, Jazz and Hip Hop, reflective of the many styles seen in today’s Bollywood films.
Probably the most recognised of the Indian classical dance styles. Originating in South India, this beautiful dance conveys stories and narratives through a series of mudras (hand gestures) and exciticing, fast and intricate beaten footwork. This class will teach you the foundations of Bharatanatyam. Students will also work towards their annual medal tests and ISTD Examinations with Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance. ISTD exams reward students with UCAS points from level 6 upwards.
A fun, yet rewarding measure of progress!
All our classes work towards an optional annual Medal Test programme where children perform in front of an audience and are graded by an external examiner. Children will be awarded either a gold, silver or bronze medal and a certificate of achievement. The aim of the assessments is to primarily reward children's hard work, provide a measure of progress and build their confidence by performing on stage. Children receive an annual report book which logs their progress and is a great keepsake. Medals Tests are held annually.
Medal Tests are charged at £15 per child. This covers the cost of the assessment performance, certificate, medal and report book. Children receive a graded assessment report from the examiners and also a graded progress report from their teacher.
