LOVE Bollywood Dance School was started in April 2009, born from Gopi’s love for her religious Indian heritage and her desire to bring her dance career closer to her cultural roots. Gopi’s career as a professional dancer and teacher has spanned the last 10 years and her versatility as a dancer includes Bollywood, Bhangra, Bharatanatyam, classical ballet, tap, Irish dance, contemporary, jazz, hip hop and musical theatre. From her first ever dance class in Bharatanatyam at the age of 6 years old, to graduating from the Northern Ballet School at 21yrs old and touring the world as a professional Irish dancer with the acclaimed Spirit of the Dance, Gopi continues to train and develop her skills both as a dancer and teacher.
Gopi is a fully qualified teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance having gained her Teaching Certificate with Distinction. Gopi also holds ISTD Associate qualifications in Ballet, Tap, Modern and National Dance. Gopi gained her Advanced 2 Exams in RAD Ballet, Russian Vaganova Ballet, ISTD Ballet, Modern, Tap and National. Gopi is also a ballet, tap and musical theatre teacher at Spotlight School of Dance in Hemel Hempstead where she is repsonsible for entering children through their Royal Academy of Dance Ballet exams. Spotlight School of Dance is a 'sister' school to LOVE Bollywood offering expert training in RAD Ballet, Tap, Street Dance, Hip Hop, Jazz, B-boy and B-girl. Gopi currently teaches workshops into school and dance academies and is contracted by several organisations such as the Royal Academy of Dance's 'Step Into Dance' Programme, Rifco Arts and Youth Connexions Herts.
Gopi comes from a family of dancers and performers. Based in the Netherlands, her step mother is principal of the Balletschool Marut Jorquera, a former ballerina with the Chilean National Ballet and her sister Vraja Sundari Keilman is director of the beautiful contemporary Samadhi Dance Company. Her father and brother are successful businessmen and entrepenuers and their company Rig Investments is a sponsor of LOVE Bollywood Dance School. Gopi's mother is a talented seamstress having designed professional tutus, she is now the designer behind the LOVE Bollywood clothing range.
Rasalila’s whole life has been devoted to the beauty of Indian performing arts, its meanings, moods and passions and sharing this enthusiasm through singing, dancing and acting.
From the age of 3yrs Rasalila, born in a talented musical family, has been performing and studying the Indian arts, Bharatanatyam (Indian classical dance), Kirtan (Indian spiritual singing) and Indian Theatre.
At the age of 15, Rasalila went to Madras, India to train at the most prestigious Kalakshetra School of Classical Arts in Bharatantyam, Karnatic singing, dance theory and folk dances of India.
Living and studying in India for many years Rasalila also developed her abilities to choreograph and dance Bollywood, combining classical dance, folk dance and western dance.
Rasalila choreographs, dances and performs for theatre productions for various amateur dramatic societies both locally and touring Europe. Rasalila has been sequested to perform for many large events and festivals, for example Rathayatra, one of the oldest Indian street festival in the world, touring productions throughout Europe.
Rasalila has a BMUS Honours degree in Indian Music Composition and Performance at Thames Valley University. She also trained in contemporary dance, theatre and musical theatre at Barnet College, North London. Rasalila has previously and continues training in physical theatre, improvised theatre, forum theatre and playback theatre, through various dramatic companies and dramatic organisations such Citylit, London.
Rasalila currently teaches for Love Bollywood Dance School teaching Bollywood, Bharatanatyam, classical Indian singing and Kirtan singing. She is also musical and vocal director for musical theatre with Spotlight School of Dance, Hemel Hempstead. Rasalila has also signed up with Youth Connexions Herts to host a number of Bollywood workshops and provides workshops for Rifco Arts, most recently for the Rambert Dance School Sept 2009. Rasalila has worked with professional tutors from East Berkshire College teaching Indian singing. Over the years she has facilitated summer workshops for various schools teaching Bollywood dance, Indian singing, Kirtan singing, Bharatanatyam, folk dance, musical theatre and improvised theatre.
Indulekha (Emma Moore) Bharatanatyam and Indian Musical Teacher
Indulekha has toured both nationwide and abroad as a performer and facilitator of workshops in Indian dance and music. Her previous experience includes working as a singer, dancer or adviser to pop groups and individual performers. She plays two Indian stringed instruments, Taus and Dilruba.
Indulekha has studied the art of Bharatanatyam (Indian classical dance) and Karnatic (South Indian) vocal music, since 1993 at the Bhavan Centre, West Kensington. In 2008, Indulekha completed a Bmus in Indian Classical Music at Thames Valley University, Slough.
Indulekha has worked for the education department of Iskcon (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) and also for Akademi, an umbrella organisation of The Place Dance School, Euston, London. Additionally, she was employed by South Berkshire College as a music teacher at Southgate Gurudwara (Sikh temple) and currently works as a dance teacher for Love Bollywood Dance School, Watford, Hertfordshire.
